Adaptive Visual Analogue Scales
The Adaptive Visual Analogue Scales (AVAS) was developed to address drawbacks of traditional pen and paper graphical rating scales. The AVAS has been designed as a flexible software package to standardize and expedite the creation, administration, and scoring of responses on self-reported graphical rating scales. The automated nature of the AVAS provides a standardized method of instruction and practice with an option for the participant to repeat instructions if desired. New scales may be constructed, or previous scales modified, to suit particular clinical or research needs. The AVAS also standardizes scoring of responses by automatically calculating and storing the measurement data of participants' responses.
